One of the little projects- choosing an ice cream packaging design for a pint. Never knew there are so many options:
- cheap simple stick-ons: Both Scream and Mission Hill use a sticker although Scream's look so, well, cheap - remember how the desktop printer prints in the olden days?
- glossy like Genuto's or matte like Caio Bella's
The best packaging I've found so far for non-mass marketed ice cream is from Ciao Bella. Clean and chic.

Another one from Off the Grid is gourmet Japanese rice balls vendor, Onigilly. No one can go wrong with brown rice topped with different Japanese dishes wrapped in seaweed. It's unfortunate that I couldn't get a good picture of the rice balls - eel, spicy shrimp (my fave!), and tuna. I vow to visit Onigilly again to take a more decent photo at the Farmer's Market @ the Ferry Building and try different rice balls.

My new find in Chinatown. I couldn't believe that for 6 ha gaos, 3 shrimp/chives dumplings, 3 chicken buns (which were huge btw) and 3 custard buns totaled to only $7.50. I squealed with delight. The 15-minute wait on a Sunday was all worth it. You can tell this is authentic Chinese dim sum since a majority of the people who lined up are local Chinese! booyah. My only wish is that they give some packs of soy and chili sauce for dipping.

This week, I'll be featuring all Instagram photos with different edit modes. Today, I present to you some tacos with ____ (guess what they are?) fresh from Off the Grid at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco. The most interesting thing I saw last night
Clue: they are living things that you find wiggling on soil.
Did I keep you guessing? It is a wax moth larvae tacos from Don Bugito.

Lambay- Crab found in Cebu, Philippines |
Piercing eyes |
I like chocolates. I LOVE crabs. These crabs are caught and brought home alive. They are not the easiest thing to eat on earth but I am a messy eater after all. I can also sit for many many hours just eating these lambays. Unfortunately last time I did that, it gave me a major heart burn- must be the old age so this is definitely something that must be enjoyed while still young!
I'm craving for something sweet yet don't have anything in my cupboard to snack on. Sigh..
Also wanted to show you a nice packaging by Miette. This one is in a simple, delightful pink color found when I was window shopping at the Ferry Building one weekend (and looking for a snack).
I'm also looking for an ice cream packaging designer. If you know one, please ping me.

Minty green is the color inspiration for the day. Literally, it was my pot of mint sitting pretty by my window sill. So here's DeLise boss man, Gabe, donning his St. Patty's attire for the day.
BTW, does anyone know where Gabe can sign-up for a baby Lookbook account? He has a personal stylist, creative director and photographer always in tow...

Mint for color inspiration |
For those who have ventured in my little shoebox (i.e. condo) at the bottom of a hill, they've seen some vintage Chocolat from posters to coffee mugs. Even though those posters have disappeared (I gave them to charity and replaced them with my own photos) through the years, those cute French kids always make me smile - a healthy way to start the weekend.

A missing piece of Coors' marketing is the health benefits of combining tea and beer (or maybe they just don't want to go down this path). I'm talking about antioxidants in tea and brewer's yeast in beer- both of which are helpful for improving skin/acne. Don't believe me? Google it and drink moderately.
If Boston has Mike's Pastry and Portland has Voodoo Doughnuts, well San Francisco also has the long lines at Chinatown's Golden Gate Bakery. Yes, they are a wee bit expensive compared to other Chinatown bakeries and that's because they can afford to be expensive! Must try the egg tarts and custard bun. If you're local and want to get those Chinese goodies at a cheaper price, you can always use Yelp (congrats on their IPO btw).
P.S. Instagram has failed me for the nth time. So have to make do with iphone HD pics for now.
