To Be or Not To Be: Din Tai Fung

I finally made it to Din Tai Fung in Taipei's 101 building! Alas, I start this post with a heavy heart since my experience somehow failed to reach my high expectations. It must have been the hype of this worldwide establishment that gave me the impression that it will deliver out-of-this-world xiao long baos. Take note though that long before Din Tai Fung came to popularity, I was already trained on sipping soup dumplings as a summer high school student in Shanghai. I'm just thankful that my eating comrade and I only waited for 15 minutes since we came in during non-rush hour around 3 pm on a weekday.

I will spare you my disappointment and leave you with some food photos instead. Enjoy!

Tiny chicken xiao long bao. My homemade dumplings are tastier, unfortunately.

The grandma totally photo bombed me!
Busy on a mid-afternoon break.

Seafood noodle soup needed more flavor.
Hot mochi to cleanse my palette.
Red bean dumpling with a very tough top skin :(
Inspecting my dessert dumpling like what a good food blogger should do.
