I love traveling to Seattle, especially when the weather is pleasantly warm. During this trip, I was a tour guide for my newbie parents in the city and discovered old and new haunts that I have not been to.
1. Beecher's - People line up for their mac and cheese for a reason. I also enjoyed a parmesan pretzel bread.
2. Seafood in this town is differently fresh. Go ahead and indulge in some. Because Shiro's was such a long wait, I discovered Umi Sake House and their somewhat hidden outdoor seating.
3. Crumpets and lots of crumpets! I first thought I was getting actual smoked salmon but got disappointed when it came out in a form of a cream.
4. If you're into pickles, try Britt's Pickles.

5. Lavender ice cream from Mora in Bainbridge Island was such a treat to combat the heat.
6. For a simple, no nonsense brunch food, head to Lola.
Here's to another year of (mis)adventures and dining experiences around the world. Last year gave me memorable insights to the international food culture of Barcelona's bistronomies, Madrid's Cuban cuisine, Peru's coca(ine) tea and Brazil's cachaca drink. While in American turf, I finally landed in Seattle's famous Pike Place Market and chowed down Portland's organic food and Boston's oysters.

The easiest and cheapest way to practice food photography is in your neighborhood Farmer's Market. There are always many interesting, good looking fruits and vegetables organized as a marching band (wondering what this means? read more about it here) which is always pleasing to the eyes and highly photogenic. Because of their store hours, you always get day light on your photos assuming that it is not a dark, cloudy day. Here are some of my older shots in the Farmer's Market of San Francisco, Seattle and New York.
Finally had a chance to visit Pike's Place in Seattle where I oggled on plump seafood. One of our pitstops for lunch was Jack's Fish Chip Spot. Upon perusing their menu, I settled for the clam chowder (no more cioppino for me) and crab cocktail while my friends tried the shrimp and fish with chips. The clam chowder was different from the San Francisco chowder since it was less dense and creamy. Amazed with the long line despite the fact that it is smacked in the middle of a wet market - i.e. big flies all around you while savoring your food :P
