Eating My Way Through Seville Part 3: Vineria San Telmo

There are many reasons why Vineria San Telmo is ranked as #2 restaurant in Seville on Tripadvisor as of December 1st.

1. Service: I walked in during a rainy, cold night. The hostess told me that all tables inside were reserved so I braved the cold wind albeit with a patio heater outside. I later realized it was way too cold, and I didn't want to get sick. Hence, I asked the server to move me inside. He happily obliged as long as I leave at 9:30 pm- the time the table was reserved. I agreed.

The server who spoke flawless English, a rarity in Seville, laughed when I ordered five tapas for myself. I gave him a big grin knowing my big appetite. Just wait and see.

2. Price: I paid under 30 euros for 5 tapas, a glass of wine and hot chocolate. What a bargain!

2. Food: Everything I ordered was beyond amazing. I did end up ordering too much but wished I had an expandable tummy to eat more. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

Squid ink spaghetti with garlic and grilled scallops. After mixing it with the green sauce, which I believe is pesto, this dish came alive. I just hope that this was not serve as my first tapas because it instantly made me so full.

Tower of tomatoes and cheese. My vegan friends would be so happy with this tapa dish.

Guess what's at the bottom of this poach egg topped with crispy spinach? FOIE GRAS! Yes, I'm still on a hunt for the foie gras. This is a different take to the liver mixed with an egg and mushrooms. The egg yolks elevated the creaminess of this dish. I was trying to count how many cubes of foie gras there were. To my dismay, there were only few, but I was only disappointed for a few minutes because my other foie gras tapa below came out of the kitchen.

And as if I did not have enough of foie gras, this foie gras with apple compote and sea salt was served on a big black ceramic (?) block. Didn't I tell you that their food is uh-mazing!?! I also love the presentation of each dish. Very well though out. The flavors are well balanced. This was my favorite among the tapas and devoured it all in less than 1 minute :P
Bull's tail in filo pastry. Since I've never tried a bull's tail, a delicacy in Seville, I made an exception to my non-beef diet and tried some of it. It actually tasted like carne asada. Someone actually dared me to eat bull's tail so I did! Mission accomplished.
I was beyond stuffed at the end of five tapas and was eyeing for their deserts, which are displayed near the hostess. I decided to skip the sweets since it was sitting inside the glass display for awhile. I do prefer my desserts made-to-order. So instead, I ended my meal with a warm cup of chocolate.

I would definitely come back at Vineria San Telmo and try the other tapas. Or better yet, can you please open a branch in San Francisco, pretty please?!?!
