On the Move @ Restaurant Stella, New Orleans

I really wanted to like Restaurant Stella after having read rave reviews about the restaurant and being greeted by courteous wait staff. With the lights dim appropriate for an intimate dinner, the 4-course menu unfolded, starting off with gooey, yummy, big raw oyster.

As the night progressed and as my food photos became blurrier (due to my shakey hands and bad lighting overall), I came to the realization that Stella would have been better off if it stuck to contemporary New Orleans/American cuisine rather than inserting some Asian influences to the meal. The foie gras and the dessert that were more French inspired made me happy, but the chili prawn and tasting of duck 5 ways - all prepared with an Asian twist- didn't fit the flow of the meal and reminded me that I should order these at an authentic Chinese restaurant instead (in Hong Kong, for instance).

Must have foie gras when outside California!

Somewhat disappointed with this duck tasting. This is not a Chinese restaurant, is it?

To cleanse the pallette, beets with corn bread and ice cream.
