Best of 2015

2015 is officially over. But before we move on to 2016, here are my top 3 food (mis)adventures from the past year.

1. Gelato in Cinque Terre, Italy- I survived my gelato challenge, a cup in each of Cinque Terre's 5 villages, without getting sick. Hurray! On top of that, I even had time and the stomach muscles to eat a large focaccia bread, 2 pasta dishes, a plateful of anchovies, half a bottle of wine, and share a whole fish all on the same day as my gelato marathon. Pacing is the key.

A cup of stracciatella gelato in Vernazza.
A must visit!
2. Clotted Cream- I was never a big fan of scones until I tried an authentic British scone at Betty's in the quaint town of York smeared with clotted cream. Deadly but heavenly, this thick cream made by indirectly heating full-cream cow's milk using steam or a water bath can make any high tea an experience to remember.

Had to get another serving of scone and clotted cream with jam at a different Yorkshire cafe!
Agree?!?
3. Food Tourism- I'm very proud of my fourth home, Rotterdam, for finally amping up their foodie scene. The Markthal, blessed with its unique Dutch architecture, is THE best food market I've ever seen in my life. Strikingly beautiful and clean.

Dutch architecture at its finest
Hope these have inspired and motivated you to make new gastronomic (mis)adventures of your own for the new year!
