Fresh Off the Press: Laduree Lands on American Soil

Hear ye, hear ye. Laduree opens this month in Manhattan, NY. The first US location for the famous Parisian macaron shop.

Their macarons are excellent even against all the hype and the hefty price (!!). However, the long lines in every Laduree store is worth the wait, especially for American tourists who are buying box loads as gifts for their loved ones. Even with fierce competition from macaron-ers in the New York gourmand land, Laduree will stand out with its European flavors, such as black licorice (on photo), in addition to regular flavors, such as strawberry, pistachio, lemon, chocolate, etc.

More importantly, we can all learn from Laduree's always awesome, seasonal window display. For those who don't have the courage to brave the long line inside, everyone stops, takes a peak by the window and takes a picture with the showstopping macarons.

P.S. I'm still waiting for a stracciatella and gianduja macaron.
