The World's Best Gelato

After completing my epic challenge in Cinque Terre (5 gelatos in one day), I ventured out to the small walled medieval town of San Gemignano in the province of Siena, Tuscany.

Entering the fortress felt like I was taken back into time where kings and knights ruled the land. The damsel in distress in me wandered aimlessly in dark alley ways. Alas, my knight and shining armor never came. But as I stepped onto the piazza, a beeline of tourists was forming right in front of a gelato shop, Gelateria Dondoli, proudly displaying the Gelato World Champion sign. Finding this gem is better than being rescued by a knight!
Light and smooth. Simply divine.
Finally found my knight and shining armor.
Amidst the throng of tourists.
Our tour guide tipped us that a copycat gelateria is also around the corner. It attracts those who don't want to wait in line. However, the unbelievably quick service of Dondoli made the short wait worthwhile. With an army of unique and traditional flavors, the friendly staff patiently waited until I made my choices- blackberries with lavender and milk with mint. Simply divine! Light and smooth like a gelato should be as explained here

It is also known that Dondoli made a special flavor just for Michelle Obama, expecting her to pop in during her Tuscany visit a few years ago but never came. Currently, it is one of their best sellers.

My bestie agrees with me.

The long line was worth it.
The sign that you can't miss.
My knight never came.
Til we meet again, my dear Tuscany.
